USCIS Moves Certain Form I-131 and G-325A Filings to Lockboxes: Stop Mailing to Montclair

USCIS moved I-131 and G-325A filings from Montclair to lockboxes; grace period through Aug 6, 2026 with rejections starting Aug 7.

USCIS changed the filing locations for two categories of paper requests effective July 7, 2026. Applicants filing Form I-131 for an initial period of parole in place or for a new period of parole, commonly called re-parole, must now use the USCIS lockbox that corresponds to the application type selected on Form I-131 and the applicant’s residence. Applicants filing Form G-325A for eligible deferred-action requests must now use the Chicago, Dallas, or Phoenix lockbox based on where they live.

USCIS instructs both groups not to mail new filings to its Montclair, California facility. A 30-day transition applies: Montclair will accept affected forms postmarked on or before August 6, 2026. Affected Forms I-131 and G-325A postmarked on or after August 7, 2026, will be rejected if sent there. A rejection can cause delay, require a new package, and create additional risk when a request is time-sensitive.

Before mailing, applicants and representatives should use the current USCIS direct-filing page for Form I-131 or the “Where to File” table on the G-325A page. Confirm the request type, state of residence, delivery method, lockbox destination, current form edition, signature, and permitted fee payment method. Do not assume that an address used for a prior filing remains valid. Keep a complete copy of the submission and delivery tracking. Anyone who recently mailed an affected package to Montclair should verify the postmark and monitor delivery and receipt notices. If the postmark is August 7 or later, prepare for possible rejection and obtain case-specific advice promptly.

What This Means for You:

  • Key Point 1: Certain parole-in-place and re-parole Form I-131 filings and eligible Form G-325A deferred-action requests must now go to a USCIS lockbox, not Montclair.
  • Who Should Be Concerned: Applicants, military families, deferred-action requestors, parole applicants, and representatives preparing affected paper filings.
  • Timeline for Action: Use the new address now; Montclair accepts affected filings only when postmarked by August 6, 2026 and rejects them beginning August 7.
  • Next Steps: Confirm the correct lockbox on the current USCIS form page, verify the form edition and payment method, retain tracking, and review any recently mailed Montclair package.
