Lebanon TPS Automatically Extended Through November 27, 2026: Employment Documents Remain Valid
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has automatically extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Lebanon for six months, from May 28, 2026, through November 27, 2026. The extension was published in the Federal Register on May 28, 2026, and takes effect immediately for existing TPS Lebanon beneficiaries.
Temporary Protected Status is a humanitarian protection that allows nationals of designated countries experiencing ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or other extraordinary conditions to live and work legally in the United States. The automatic extension was triggered because DHS was unable to make a formal determination on Lebanon's continued TPS eligibility before the statutory 60-day deadline — a situation caused by rapidly evolving conditions in Lebanon that required additional review.
For current TPS Lebanon holders, this means their status and Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) are automatically extended through November 27, 2026, without any action required. Individuals with a pending or approved Form I-821 (TPS application) or Form I-765 (EAD application) based on Lebanon TPS will also benefit from the extension.
Importantly, a separate interim final rule effective May 29, 2026, limits TPS-based EAD validity periods to one year or the remaining TPS designation period, whichever is shorter — a change that may affect future renewals.
This is a key immigration news 2026 update for Lebanese nationals and their families in the United States.
