April 2026 Visa Bulletin: EB-2 Becomes Current for Most Countries; Major Advancement for India

The U.S. State Department released the April 2026 Visa Bulletin on March 17, 2026, showing continued advancement in several employment-based green card categories. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has confirmed it will accept employment-based adjustment of status applications based on the Dates for Filing chart in April.

The most significant development is that EB-2 Final Action Dates will become current in April for all countries except China and India. For India, the EB-2 Final Action Date will advance by ten months to July 15, 2014, and the EB-2 Dates for Filing will advance by two and a half months to January 15, 2015. For EB-3 Professionals and Skilled Workers, all countries except China, India, and Philippines will advance by over fourteen months and become current under the Dates for Filing chart.

For EB-1, China and India will advance by one month to April 1, 2023, under Final Action Dates, while all other countries remain current. For EB-3, China will advance by six weeks to June 15, 2021, and all other countries (except India and Philippines) will advance by eight months to June 1, 2024, under Final Action Dates.

USCIS will honor the Dates for Filing chart for employment-based applications in April, meaning applicants with priority dates earlier than the Dates for Filing cutoffs can submit adjustment of status applications even if their Final Action Date has not yet been reached. This is a significant opportunity for eligible applicants to file and lock in their place in line.

What This Means for You:

  • Key Point 1: EB-2 Final Action Dates become current for all countries except China and India in April 2026, allowing eligible applicants to file for final green card approval.
  • Who Should Be Concerned: Foreign nationals in employment-based green card backlogs, particularly those from India and China, and their sponsoring employers.
  • Timeline for Action: USCIS will accept adjustment of status applications based on Dates for Filing in April 2026; applicants should act quickly.
  • Next Steps: Consult with an immigration attorney to determine if your priority date is current under the Dates for Filing or Final Action Dates chart and prepare all required documents for filing.
